The Franklin chair - also known as a ladder chair, a library chair, or a convertible chair - is a piece of furniture which folds to become either a chair or a small set of steps or stairs. It's a popular DIY project. Ben Franklin reportedly preferred to sit in a step chair he designed for his own library. He never sat on my reproduction.
This New England customer wanted a decorative feature to light up her front yard as well as reflect her location on the shore. Materials are marine plywood and Norwegian pine recycled from a wooden boat modification project I was working on at the time.
